vDAL has moved!
Research IT's Visualization and Data Analysis Laboratory (vDAL), has moved to B42, Sackville Street Building. Don’t worry though, it’s just around the corner from its previous location!
New Head of Research IT Announced
Back in June we announced some changes in Research IT management. We are now pleased to announce that, following the recent open competition, Robert Haines has been appointed as Head of Research IT.
Free Student Registration to Computing Insight UK
The popular conference, Computing Insight UK (CIUK), returns to Manchester again in December with the main theme of "Computing the Future". Students who are interested in attending can submit a poster abstract which, if accepted, will grant them free registration to the event including the CIUK exhibition and full programme of presentations and breakout sessions.
HoloLens arrives at Research IT
vDAL is a bookable space in Research IT where researchers can access VR, MR, mobile devices and high-end graphics workstations for testing, prototype development and collaboration with Research Software Engineers. We are now pleased to announce the addition of the Microsoft HoloLens to our vDAL.

Changes in Research IT Leadership
Our Research IT function is a key partner for many of the University’s research community and has never been in such high demand. In fact the demand has increased by around 75% over the last two years!
Angus Hearmon, as our Head of Research IT, has also seen his remit grow. To continue to meet demand appropriately, it has been decided to split the responsibilities of the Head of Research IT in to two roles.
