NVivo Upgrade Now Available

If you are one of the many NVivo users at the University you can now update to versions 14 or 15. NVivo 12 codes will not be published next year so all users are strongly encouraged to update.

NVivo is a qualitative data analysis package which is widely used across the University with many users in the Faculty of Humanities. This software is designed to assist researchers in organising, analysing, and finding insights in unstructured or qualitative data such as interviews, open-ended survey responses, social media content, and web content.

NVivo 14 and 15 are available for all staff and students working in the UK or Ireland.

The University was using NVivo 12 for a long time but it is now time for all NVivo 12 users to upgrade! We plan not to publish NVivo 12 codes for next year.

New versions of NVivo have been available for a few years now and are well established. NVivo 15 is packaged for Windows and Mac OS and is available via the Company portal/Software Centre. If you have a managed machine, please install via the Software Centre.

If you do not have a managed computer, please request a NVivo license.

  • University staff and PGRs should fill in the Connect form to request a licence.
  • All others need to search for the ‘NVivo’ in Connect and complete the ‘NVivo License’ Request form.

We aim to fulfil all license requests withing 24 hours. Once added to the license you will receive an email from Luminervo the vendor of NVivo with instructions on how to access the license and download the installer.

NVivo 15 will be installed on cluster machines next academic year.

Any problems or questions about installing or using NVivo please contact the Research Application Support team.
