Join members of the UK Biobank team on the 16th of November to find out the latest news from the service including how to access and use the service.


As part of the relaunch of the UoM UK Biobank Users group, members of the UK Biobank team will be presenting at the next meeting on the 16th of November. They will cover topics requested by the attendees of the kick-off meeting of the user group in August.

The meeting is open to all University staff and PGRs who either use or are interested in using the UK Biobank services. Joining us from the UK Biobank will be John Busby, Chief Operating Officer; Ben Holbrook, Lead Access Associate; Lucy Burkitt-Gray, Lead Data Analyst and they will cover topics including:

  • Types of data available in the UK Biobank; tiers and costing
  • How to register and apply to the UK Biobank
  • How to access and store UK Biobank data
  • How to use the UK Biobank Research Analysis Platform (UKB-RAP)
  • How to access credits for UKB-RAP
  • UK Biobank relocation to Manchester
  • Q&A and networking

The UoM UK Biobank group is currently supported by Charlotte Woolley (Division of Musculoskeletal and Dermatological Sciences), Nils Muhlert (Division of Human Communication, Development and Hearing) and Alex Casson (Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) but more volunteers are always welcome! If you can help with spreading the word about the group to colleagues, suggest future topics for discussion, identify and invite speakers etc please get in touch!
