Join us on GIS Day – Celebrating 25 years of GIS Excellence for our Geographic Information Systems, Mapping, and Earth Observation (GISMEO) community event.

This meeting is open to everyone within the University, from academics and students to Professional Services and technicians. Whether you're just starting with geospatial technology or have years of experience, GISMEO is a welcoming space for you. Led by:

  • Dr. Gail Millin-Chalabi (Research IT – Project Manager & Co-I Researcher in GISc)
  • Ms. Donna Sherman (University Library – Curator of Maps)
  • Dr. Polyanna Bispo (Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography)

In the meeting we will:

  • Introduce GISMEO: Meet the team and hear about the goals of the community.
  • Showcase ArcGIS Online (AGOL): Discover what resources are available at the University.
  • Hear Lightning Talks from AGOL Users:
    • Vicky Short (Professional Services - AGOL for Wellbeing)
    • Dr. Richard Figueroa Alfaro (Teaching & Assessing with AGOL)
    • Olivia Bickerstaff (Expanding GIS Skills: UK Fire Danger Rating System Internship)
  • Manchester Spatial survey: Report survey results and update on what happens next.
