Our popular HPC Pool was established through funding from the current Research Lifecycle Programme (RLP). A condition of this funding was that we report on the registered HPC projects and their usage on an annual basis.
Work will soon begin on a business case for RLP2 where we will be requesting further strategic investment in research focused systems and business processes. This has an anticipated start date of 2023. In order to gather evidence to support our business case we need to hear from project PIs and users that have used our current system.
In order to do so we have launched the annual HPC Pool Survey – all PIs and users of the service please check your inbox for a link! The information you provide in this survey will be an essential source of information that is fed into the business case.
No idea what the HPC Pool is?
The HPC Pool is a High Performance Compute (HPC) resource which enables University of Manchester researchers to run large scale computational jobs of between 128 and 1024 cores. We have a large range of software available, for example openFOAM, Gromacs, VASP, intel compilers and MPI.
The HPC Pool is currently free to use.
If you think you have some research that would benefit from access to this resource you can apply for access or if you'd like to discuss the suitability of your work first please email to request an informal chat.
