Learn Basic Research Computing Skills

Research IT staff will be teaching and assisting on a Software Carpentry Workshop in May which aims to help researchers get their work done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic research computing skills. The workshop is free to post-graduate students and employees of the University of Manchester.


This hands-on workshop will take place on the 15th – 16th May 2018 and will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design using Python, version control with Git and task automation using Linux Shell. More details can be found on the workshop website. Registration is available via Eventbrite and participants are kindly asked to fill a short pre-workshop survey.
