Use Surveys in Your Research?

If you use surveys in your research then IT Services want to hear from you! They are reviewing survey tools used across the University in order to provide a secure central survey tool that’s mindful of research requirements.


The IT Services Survey Tools project has just started with the aim of consolidating the number of survey tools used by University staff and students, enabling IT Services to provide a consistent service. In order to do this they need to understand the requirements of academic and administrative staff across the University.

The survey tools currently used by researchers need to be evaluated to ensure that staff are not breaching data protection laws and putting respondent’s information at risk. You may feel that the survey tool is only collecting anonymous information when sometimes it does not. It is important that you tell us why Select Survey or Lime Survey does not fulfill your requirements and which survey tool you are using.

To ensure The University of Manchester recommend the correct survey tools to cover your requirements IT Services will be running requirement sessions, please can you ensure you attend or send a representative to one of the following drop in sessions:
