As of the 16th February 2018 the University was certified as being Cyber Essentials Scheme compliant and it will maintain compliance on an annual basis.
From 1 October 2014, the Government required all suppliers bidding for contracts involving the handling of certain sensitive and personal information to be certified against the Cyber Essentials scheme. The accreditation is important to the University, because increasingly this certification has been mandated for all Government contracts, including research and other services provided by the University.
The scope of the current certification is for all systems on the University network, protected behind the Palo Alto firewalls and managed by IT Services including those managed by Research IT. Systems not managed by IT Services, such as home PCs are out of scope and not covered by Cyber Essentials.
If you have any questions about the Cyber Essentials certification please contact IT Services.
