First Meeting of the UoM R Users Group

Introducing "R at University of Manchester" (R.U.M.), a group open to all staff and students using R at The University of Manchester. The R.U.M Group exists to bring together R users of all levels, with interests in diverse fields from across the University to exchange tips, ideas and knowledge for the benefit of all.

In monthly meetings, R.U.M will cover interesting topics related to data handling, manipulation and presentation, and to provide an open and relaxed forum for R users across faculties.

A R.U.M. launch meeting will be held on the 7th of November at 11am in the ground floor conference room at Vaughan House. This session will consist of a brief welcome/ introduction, followed by two short presentations by group members. The topics for this month are interactive plotting using the plot.ly package, and ‘teaching with R’.

All are welcome to attend, and total proficiency in R is not a requirement! It is recommended but not essential that users bring a laptop to follow the session, and that you install the Plotly package prior to the meeting commencing. The meeting will be followed by a 30 minute R surgery in which we will aim to troubleshoot any problematic code you may wish to bring along.

A schedule and further information is now available and everyone is encouraged to join the R.U.M mailing list.
