UoM UK Biobank Users Meeting

Join members of the UK Biobank on the 16th November to find out the latest news from the service and how to access and use the datasets.

As part of the relaunch of the UoM UK Biobank Users group, members of the UK Biobank team will be presenting at the next meeting on the 16th of November. They will cover topics requested by the attendees of the kick-off meeting of the user group in August.

The meeting is open to all University staff and PGRs who either use or are interested in using the UK Biobank services. Joining us from UK Biobank will be John Busby, Chief Operating Officer; Ben Holbrook, Lead Access Associate; Lauren Carson, Head of Research Development; Oliver Gray, Senior Data Analyst; and Daisy Vinter, Data Analyst.. Topics to be covered by the UK Biobank include:

  • The UK Biobank study & the types of data available
  • Ongoing projects at the University
  • How to register and apply for access inc. data tiers and costs
  • Ways to access and store UK Biobank data
  • How to use the Research Analysis Platform (UKB-RAP)
  • How to access credits for UKB-RAP
  • UKB relocation to Manchester Science Park

There will also be time at the end for Q&A and networking. Lunch will be provided by UK Biobank so registration is required.

Registration closes on Wednesday 8th November at 4pm.

Room Directions

Please enter the Engineering Building by the main entrance next to the Aquatics centre and across from the Aquatics centre car park. Once inside head left and follow signs for "Core 3". Walk up (or take the lift) up 2 flights of stairs and head towards the Connect cafe counter. Pass this on your right hand side and walk across the bridge to Engineering Building B. Once across turn right and follow the corridor round to room 2B.025.
