UKRI National Compute Ecosystem Town Hall Meeting

This UKRI Town Hall meeting will engage the research and innovation community in UKRI’s plans for the Next National Supercomputing Service (NNSS) and the new National Compute Resources (NCRs).

2 Jun 2026 09:30 — 16:30

Riverside Room, County Hall, Belvedere Road, London, SE1 7PB

This Town Hall meeting will engage the research and innovation community in UKRI’s plans for the Next National Supercomputing Service (NNSS) and the new National Compute Resources (NCRs), building on the UK Compute Roadmap (July 2025) vision for a world‑class, federated compute ecosystem. This includes the planned investment of up to £750 million in a new national supercomputer service in Edinburgh and £76 million in four new NCRs.

The event will provide opportunities to:

  • Discuss the vision and implementation of the NNSS, including its contribution to national research and innovation Grand Challenges, access routes, software, and user support.
  • Discuss the approach to creating Community Centres of Excellence as a new consortia‑based mechanism for accessing NCRs and supporting the development of research and innovation platforms.
  • Explore the development of a federated UK compute ecosystem and identify future requirements for associated Digital Research Infrastructure.

This is an interactive, user‑focused event, designed primarily for prospective users of the NNSS and NCRs. It is not primarily targeted at service directors or those managing compute services and facilities.
